Full Statement of Faith

We believe in the historic Christian faith as revealed in Scripture and summarized below:

Scripture

We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, sufficient for faith and practice.

2 Timothy 3:16-17. 2 Peter 1:21

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus Christ

We believe in the full deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, present intercession for His people, and future return in power and glory.

John 1:1,14; Luke 1:34–35; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Hebrews 7:25; Acts 1:11

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates and indwells believers, and empowers them for holy living and service.

John 16:8; Titus 3:5–6; Galatians 5:22–23; Acts 1:8

Humanity and Sin

We believe that all people are created in the image of God, have fallen into sin, are under God's judgment, and are in need of salvation.

Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1–3

Salvation

We believe that salvation is entirely the work of God's sovereign grace, accomplished by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. From before the foundation of the world, God chose a people for Himself, and in time He effectually calls, regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies all who are His.

We affirm that sinners are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, apart from works. Faith itself is the gift of God, given through the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. All who truly believe are kept by the power of God and will persevere to the end.

Ephesians 1:3–6; John 6:37–39, 44; Romans 8:29–30; Ephesians 2:8–9; Philippians 1:6; 1 Peter 1:3–5

The Church

We believe the universal church is the body of Christ, composed of all true believers throughout the ages. The local church is the visible expression of that body and is God's ordained means for worship, discipleship, and mission.

We affirm that the true marks of a local church are the faithful preaching of the Word of God, the right administration of the sacraments or ordinances instituted by Christ (baptism and the Lord's Supper), and the exercise of church discipline. Believers are called to join themselves to local congregations for mutual encouragement, accountability, and the advance of the gospel.

As a parachurch ministry, Guidon Ministries exists to come alongside the church, not to replace it. Our aim is to serve, disciple, and extend hospitality in Christ's name, while urging those we minister to become committed members of faithful local congregations.

Ephesians 1:22–23; Acts 2:42–47; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26; Matthew 18:15–17; Hebrews 10:24–25

Last Things

We believe Jesus Christ will return bodily in glory, raising the dead, judging all people, and consummating His kingdom. We hold that Christ is presently reigning and subduing all His enemies, and that the gospel will advance victoriously throughout the nations. We affirm the final resurrection of the just and the unjust, the eternal joy of the righteous, and the eternal punishment of the wicked.

1 Corinthians 15:24–26; Matthew 28:18–20; Revelation 20:11–15; John 5:28–29

While Guidon Ministries teaches a hopeful, victorious view of Christ's present reign, we welcome believers of varying eschatological convictions (premillennial, amillennial, postmillennial) to fellowship and serve with us, provided they affirm the bodily return of Christ and the final judgment.

Faithfulness in This Age

In faithfulness to God's Word, Guidon Ministries recognizes that certain ideologies and practices, though celebrated in the present age, are contrary to the created order and the revealed will of God.

These are not new issues for the historic church—the church has held these biblical positions for millennia. We stand with believers throughout history who have faithfully proclaimed God's truth in their generation, understanding that what appears progressive to the world is often a departure from timeless biblical truth.

Therefore, while welcoming believers from various denominational and doctrinal backgrounds on secondary and tertiary issues, Guidon Ministries stands opposed to and will not affirm, promote, or accommodate the following:

Feminism

Which denies God's good design for men and women.

Genesis 1:27 establishes that God created men and women as distinct but equal image-bearers, each with unique roles and responsibilities. 1 Corinthians 11:3 reveals God's design for authority and headship in relationships, showing that different roles do not imply different worth.

Egalitarianism and Complementarianism

As modern systems that distort or reduce the biblical teaching on male and female roles in family, church, and society.

Genesis 2:18, 22–24 shows God's design for marriage as a complementary union where each partner has distinct but equally valuable roles. Ephesians 5:22–25 reveals how marriage reflects Christ's relationship with the church, with husbands called to sacrificial love and wives to respectful submission. Titus 2:3–5 emphasizes the importance of women mentoring other women in godly living. 1 Timothy 2:11–12 establishes male leadership in church teaching and authority. 1 Timothy 3:1–7 sets forth qualifications for church leadership that apply specifically to men. 1 Corinthians 14:34–35 reinforces the principle of male leadership in church gatherings.

Sodomy and Homosexuality

Which contradicts God's design for human sexuality and marriage.

Leviticus 18:22 clearly identifies homosexual behavior as an abomination before God, establishing it as contrary to His created order. Romans 1:26–27 describes how those who reject God's design for sexuality are given over to unnatural desires, showing the spiritual consequences of rejecting God's plan for human relationships.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Ideologies

Which substitute secular standards of justice for God's holy standard.

Deuteronomy 10:17 establishes that God shows no partiality, meaning true justice comes from Him, not from human ideologies. Acts 17:26 reveals that all people are created equal before God, making worldly divisions unnecessary. Micah 6:8 defines true justice as doing what God requires: acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with Him, rather than following secular DEI frameworks.

Abortion

The unjust taking of innocent human life in the womb.

Psalm 139:13–16 reveals that God personally forms each person in the womb, establishing the sanctity of life from conception. Exodus 20:13 commands "You shall not murder," making abortion a violation of God's law. Luke 1:41 shows that even unborn children are recognized as persons with the ability to respond to God's presence, confirming their humanity and worth.

Emotionalism and Manipulative Worship

The practice of substituting emotional manipulation and manufactured religious experiences for Spirit-led, Word-centered worship. While Christians rightly have deep affections for Christ and may express joy, sorrow, and reverence in worship, these responses must flow from truth and be governed by Scripture, not generated by human technique or disordered display.

John 4:23–24 establishes that true worship must be both spiritual and truthful, rejecting emotional manipulation in favor of genuine reverence. 1 Corinthians 14:40 requires that all worship be conducted decently and in order, preventing chaotic or manipulative practices. Colossians 3:16 emphasizes that worship should be centered on God's Word, with singing and expressions of gratitude flowing from biblical truth rather than emotional manipulation.

In all things, we affirm God's created order, the sanctity of life, the goodness of biblical manhood and womanhood, and the sufficiency of Scripture to guide faith and practice in every generation.
